[Bug report] switching CIQ in the activity (4.10 FW)

There is an easy to fix bug; although since there would be zero help from support (they are fast with watch replacement but zero help with bug fixes), I'll leave bug report here.

On 945 (like most of other Garmin watches) we're limited for 2 CIQ datafields maximum at any standard activities. If I have two CIQ configured and want to switch one of them third CIQ, I can't easily do this as 945 is saying that "you have maximum 2 CIQ datafileds, please remove one of them....". Which sounds stupid, as I'm replacing one CIQ into another CIQ. So, I have to switch CIQ datafiled with any standard first (let's say with a timer field), and then switch timer field with new CIQ datafield.

In previous releases (2. and 3. something) we could easily swap CIQ datafileds without need to change one of them to standard datafield.

It is so annoying, and it so easily to fix. Can please someone from Garmin take a look at that issue please?

You need to contact Garmin Support directly to be certain they will action this.

  • I'm a customer of Garmin for 5+ years (Edge 500, Fenix 3, VAHR, 520, 830, 935, VIRB, Varia, 945, etc), and I'm fed up with Garmin support. As I mentioned in the beginning of my post, they are good with watch replacement (not in all regions worldwide, but that's a different story). For anything else like bug fixing - it is useless and just a waste of my time.

it looks like the support works in your region, but don't forget in others (e.g.: austria/german) it's frustrating, they only thing they offer is a exchange because they can't do anything, because every software related thing is in the hand of Garmin US, Garmin Europe support can't help with software things!

answers like something totally simple, you can find in a manual either, for this answers you have to wait for weeks, if it's not possible to solve it like you can read in the manually you have to do an device exchange!

  • Completely agree. I'm fed up with the garmin support and don't want to waste my time with Garmin T1 support team. If one from Garmin is looking to increase stability / usability of the product... then here you are, a bug report with clear steps to reproduce.
