Phone notifications during activity

I'd like to see full notifications on my Garmin and it works just fine when I'm not in the activiry.

Once I'm in activity, I'm only getting sender's name and app icon (text/fb/what's app/...) ... but not the actual text. Can't find it my either iphone or forerunner settings ... can anyone help, please? thanks

  • I still wonder what might be the reason for not showing full notification during activity ... when it’s apparently ok when not in activity. It’s nearly impossible to unlock the watch and read full message when I’m in activity, which makes all notifications almost useless for me :(

  • During an activity, the Forerunner will display the name of the sender or application above your data fields. If you select the down arrow when the notification is shown, this will expand the window and let you read the entire message.

The reason for this design is to allow you to see that a notification has come in, and give you the option to read it then if you choose, while not blocking out all of your data fields. I apologize for any frustration this is causing, but there are not further changes that can be made.

  • Thanks, but yes - I know that. But it may be quite difficult/dangerous/inconvenient to push any button during the activity, especially when keys are locked. Therefore I need to stop, unlock Forerunner, go to notifications and find out what was the message. Even if it was something short like 'call me' or 'ok'

When I'm not in the activity, Forerunner shows first couple of words of message, so I can decide much better if I have to stop and respond or not. Is there any reason why the same option is not available during activity?

  • (not sure if I missed the second paragraph or you edited your answer): I agree it would block out other data fields, but it still could be optional behavior + it would disappear after some time. Just like e.g. Edge 1030 - but I suppose I'm the ony one who sees it this way :(

  • It happens so fast though. On vivoactive I could swipe out of activity and see notifications.

I'm able to press music button to deal with music. Why can't one of the buttons work to get to notifications? Makes notifications pretty terrible experience

  • Absolutely. The prompt is so short it is almost impossible to react and reveal the full text, esp. in activities where you have limited attention and movement and need to prepare yourself first (stop, take off gloves ....), but even while running I was unable to react to incoming calls. The prompt should be visible longer and it should be possible to call it out again somehow when I missed it.
