Bug: Navigating to a location using routing option "Automobile" results in a direct (straight line) route and does not follow roads.

In FW 4.00 and 4.06 beta I have observed this issue. I created an activity called "Driving" and set it's routing activity option to "Automobile." When telling the watch to navigate to a location I end up with a straight line path to the location (i.e. not along roads). I get the same result using routing activity "Motorcycle."

  • The included TopoActive maps are not routable for automobile or motorcycle. You’ll need to add an automobile specific routable map to use this function. You could pay for Garmin’s City Navigator series or use one of the many free Open Street Maps (OSM) available for Garmin devices. I have maps from http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl on my 945 and frequently use them for driving directions. There are other options and instructions for how to load and use them if you poke around.
