Open water Swim FR945 Settings

My FR945 consistently measures swims to be too long.

What are the optimized settings for OWS for the FR945?

Is there a detailed link specifically for the FR945 referencing FR945 settings?

The tracking remains marginal, with many 'jumps' where signals are missed.

I'm running Software 4.0, GPS 2.6.

Hi, I have a Marq Athlete Software V11.10 (August 2020) and the Tracking Course shows me swimming to the equator also. Changed to "GPS Only " now, which gives me a better Tracking Course. But I swim breaststroke, so the watch is most of the time under water. I noticed that it takes about 5 second for the GPS signal to catch the position. Once every 100 m I hold my arm out of the water..

  • Just reading about that gives me the willies considering all the great white activity right offshore in that area!

I am also seeing this issue on my watch all the time. It started to happen a few months ago and now it happens consistency where my distance is always 500-600 yards more than my friends.

  • Are you satisfied that it is your watch that is wrong? Do you know the distance you are swimming? If so how? What stroke are you swimming?

If you believe there is a problem with the watch then you should also contact Garmin Support.

I can only say that when I swim with my 945 and an F6 there is generally little difference between them over a 2000m measured and buoyed swim course.

My issue is consistent with everyone else who has commented on this thread. Yes I am sure it's my watch that has a problem. I will reach out to support also.

  • Would you answer the other questions I posed?

I swim freestyle and I know the distance because I run in a group and other folks also have their watches on. They have different models of Garmin as well as other brands in the market. I didn't try to troubleshoot with different distances the way you have but for 1200-1500 yard open water swims, I am always off by a few hundred.

  • Swim this morning with 945 and Fenix 6 Solar Pro.

And my wife swam with a 945:

    and a 935
