Stoke fields for Kayaking

I used SUP activity on my Vivoactive3 for kayaking. I'm happy to see a kayaking activity has finally been added to the 945. However, why on earth does kayaking not have access to stroke fields? Please take the stroke field in the SUP activity (adjust for two stokes per motion) and transfer it into kayaking. Otherwise I'm going to just have to keep using the SUP activity for my kayaking. Thanks.

  • Have the same concern as well as the kayaking activity ends up as wildwaterkayaking in stead of just paddling... I now use upaddle instead, sadly the strokes unterups constantly on that one... But at least it gets the right naming...

  • Use the ROW activity. It works perfect. I've done 100's of miles. It only counts 1 stroke for two strokes is the only issue.

  • As noted I like the fields in SUP more. Stroke rate, distance per stroke, pace, total distance. I don't much care about 500m pace. It looks like the Backcountry Skiing and Indoor Climbing modes have been created! Can't wait to try the track mode as well!

  • I have tried kayaking apps in the IQ store but there is always something that is a little bit annoying in each of them. I cannot understand why Garmin wont adapt the native SUP app for kayaking and just double the stroke rate and half the distance travelled per stroke. Its already there and needs little work but I suppose there are not enough people shouting about it for them to care. It is interesting though that Garmin list these activities in their marketing blurb but don't deliver the goods. Come on Garmin and pay a bit of attention.

  • Really annoying!

They sell the Kayaking app as a premium app, reserved only for the top models.

So I bought a FR 745 to have the Kayak app, just to find out it is useless and I still have to use SUP app as I did on my Vivoactive 3.

    Why no strokes in Kayak?

Also they could include the option to create custom activities with the option to select the activity type. Then we could use "paddling" which is available on connect but not in the watch. This one also keep strokes count.

  •  yes why have a 'Kayak' Activity when it won't show stokes or Cadence? Crazy - come on Garmin allow Kayaking access to those data fields!!!! (same as SUP).
