I like the way as the new breathwork exercises display the training results in Garmin Connect. Especially Stress, Breathing rate and Heart rate.
I would like to have this statistics during my own meditation. But the new breathwork exercises are very fix.
1. time is fix and with 6-16min too short for meditation
2. during mediation I don’t like to be disturbed with the vibration of predefined breathing frequency
But in Garmin Connect I’m not able to create my own breathwork training, because this technique is not offered in the Garmin workout Creator!
On the other side I do not know any activity type which can show 1. stress and 2. breathing frequencies below 10 in the activity log. Running and cycling breathing frequencies with chest strap are always over 10 and therefore useless for meditation with breathing frequencies below 4.
I also have the feeling that in the new breathwork activity there is much less smoothing of the heart rate and I can see very well the up and downs of the heart rate during breathing with more than 20bpm, what is correct!. In other activities types this is smoothed out and not visible.
The only disappointment with the new breath workactivity is, that it does not show the Stress if I use a chest strap. On the other side I can see that the chest strap is much more accurate for heart rate and R-R data than the OHR. That is a pitty and I hope it will improve with new updates.
