945 not syncing to correct to from iPhone

I am often changing time zones and when turning on my iPhone after landing, immediately all notifications come onto my forerunner 945. The only thing that doesn't work is that the time will not adjust on my watch. I have my time settings set to AUTO. The time only changes when I will open up the Connect app on my iPhone and the watch sync to the phone. This is very annoying as I would like to have the correct time immediately without having to open up an app first.

Anyone has the same problem? This has not been the case on my old fenix 5 if I remember correctly...

You can. You just have to get a GPS fix on your watch. Either choose to sync time with GPS or just open an activity that requires GPS.

GCM has ALWAYS had to be running in the background for a connection to be made with the watch. You are remembering incorrectly.

well, GCM is running in the background, as notifications always come in to the watch straight away. It‘s just the time that wouldn‘t sync
