Garmin 945 really bad accuracy

Hi all,

I have a new Garmin 945, coming from a 735xt, and the GPS Accuracy is much worse when compared!

I'm usisng GPS + Glonass with 1 sec recording, is this normal?

Also the heart rate accuracy seams OK when running, but on the bike its garbage, when doing maximum effort, the garmin 945 reads everything below 100 BPM.

Anybody with the same problems?

Using GPS only with at least 15 to 20 minutes of satellite reception/lock before beginning my run makes a world of difference with the tracking.  I've tried both of the other GPS settings and for me, GPS only works good enough. Concerning heart rate, I almost always use a strap when running, because I have it, why not use it!

  • Try around with GPS, GPS + Glonass, GPS + Galileo... they don't all work as well everywhere.

Also, at least provide a track/activity to compare (preferably one with the 735xt and a similar one with the 945) because 'it sucks' is quite meaningless.

No issues here btw (and I came here from a 235 to a 735xt a 935 and now finally the 945 so have my comparison)

  • So here is my heart from today's run, I've made 3 intervals and the heart rate seams to be quite on spot

This is a MTB ride last saturday, on those big climbs I was doing near maximum effort and the heart rate is bellow 100 BPM when it should be above 160

  • Yeah, OHR on bike is crap... that's pretty well known.

Was talking about a GPS track (connect link) myself, that's what the topic was mainly about right?

  • The OHR has never worked well for me on my roadie or MTB. I think the vibration and impact that you feel in the wrist while riding screws up its accuracy. I always wear a chest HRM connected to my FR945 and Edge 530 when I am riding.

  • I come from 735xt as well, and agree 735xt is far better than 945 in terms of gps accuracy.

When I run at open sky area I can say both watch perform quite similar and accurate. However if I run pass by some trees, bridges or buildings, they make a huge difference. 735xt is able to maintain a reasonable gps route while the 945 is far off the correct route.

  • Btw I tried every second recording, gps only, gps+glonass, gps+galileo. Doesnt make difference.

    GPSの精度は悪い。しかも距離は短くなったり長くなったり10%以上のずれがある。直し方教えてください

  • Hi all,

today I was training on zwift with my indoor bike, my writst had almost no movement and the heart rate measure from my 945 is near to ridiculous.

I was doing a 50min all out effort and the heart rate was bellow 100bpm for too long

    garmin 945

This is the same effort with my old 735xt

    735

Don't come with the usual commentaries, If you want to track heart rate use a heart rate band! On my indoor bike my 735 was quite accurate in recording heart rate and really useful on indoor bike where you get a lot of sweat and destroy a lot of heart rate bands.

I bought 945 as an upgrade, but this is a really disappointing GPS.

I'm thinking on returning it to the store!
