Max Heart rate is different in my watch and in Garmin Connect. Thus, HR zones are different between GC and the watch.

Hi there, i have updated HR zones in Garmin Connect last week base on a new max HR value ( changed from 185 to 192) base on a trial run. HR zones have updated for all activities.

On Saturday while doing interval training the watch detected a new threshold HR and ask if I want to accept it (normal), so I did.

Since that all HR zones have changed in the reports for activities, not in GC settings.

Not to mention that my HR zones are set to %HRT, rather than LT, so I would thought accepting the new LT should not change zones

Also, I noticed that max HR in the watch is lower (185) compare to what is in GC (192).

any attempts to reset HR zones and max HR in GC do not transfer to the watch (but I see, if I adjust my weight it is updated in the watch)

Another comment: The watch updated the firmware to 3.9 on Sunday.

Does anyone can help to fix an issue?

  • I think this has been an ongoing issue with transfer of date from the watch to GC. Is this GCM or GC interweb? If you're referring to GCM, try adjusting the setting in GC interweb then connect to Garmin Express and sync from there.

Back in the day, there was a 'hierarchy' for data which started with GC interweb, then GCM, then the watch. Data flow was one way. In fact before that there was Garmin Training Centre but that's another story! Anyhow, it always used to be the case that if you had data on GC interweb that was common to the watch, you synched down from there. Nowadays, we expect it to happen from GCM(obile) but it sometimes fails on us.

  • Thanks for your comment.
I tried doing it (make sync through GC web and Express).  But the result is the same. No update on the watch.

at the same time, I don’t understand why watch adjusted the HR zone when max HR didn’t even changed.

  • Hard to say but looks like there is some confusion somewhere. It can't be a coincidence that the watch reverted back to the 185 that was there before. If the HR settings are correct on GC interweb, what about in GCM? Are they correct?

  • Here are a few screen shots to show that Zones are the same in web GC and in GCM. But the watch use different zones base on max HR recorded in the watch. This happened only after I accepted the new LT recently. Previously, accepting new LT did change zones or max HR in the watch.

There is no special HR zones for different activities (run or bike), all zones are default and common.

  • I think about updating max HR in the watch manually. I believe it will fix the issue, but it sound wrong when the watch goes out of sync with app for such settings b

  • Do you have any custom zones set on the watch that are not on GC? On your watch go o to Settings, Heart Rate, Sport Heart Rate? What's in there?

  • No, I don’t have any customs or sport HR zones set up
