Any way to manually edit the LOAD on an activity?

So this morning I go for a ride and my Forerunner 945 freezes up on me.
It freezed at about 2h15 at which point my LOAD data field already showed about 265.
Pressing start/stop or any other button did nothing at all.

After holding the power button in for a while the device resets and I was able to tell it to "resume" the activity.
Interestingly it still seemed to track my time and distance while it was frozen, so afterward that shows up correctly:

But after the restart my LOAD started from scratch and now shows up as only 149:

So my "coach" (as I like to think of it) thinks I'm slacking off, but actually I should be within target for my 7 day training load:

When I try to edit my ride, I only see the following options:

Does anybody know of a way to manually edit the LOAD on an activity?

Also: is there a way to prevent my 945 from freezing up on me in future?

are you ready for one more ?

    • remove all activity on Garmin Connect Web from yesterday
    • disconnect your watch from all Garmin programs
      • turn off Garmin Express
      • turn off Garmin Connect Mobile (bluetooth…

with your consent we can have a go at your file

zip the fit file and upload here in the forum, or provide a link to it on a cloud storage

Am not sure if it is going to upload correctly afterwards.

Because every "training" fit file has a unique workout code.

  • Thanks for the link to info.

Unfortunately that made very little sense to me, so I gladly consent to you having a go at it!

As mentioned my watch froze at about 2h15 with about 265 LOAD.
After the reset it correctly said that I had been riding for about 3h15, but started counting LOAD again from zero and ended up with 149.

    So with 265 + 149 it's at least 414.
During the 1 hour that I lost, I did some heavy climbing, so I recon that's worth at least the difference to get me to a total of a 500 LOAD for the ride.

So if you could somehow edit the ride to reflect a 500 LOAD that would be great!

The problem with the "unique workout code" may have a few solutions?
    - You change this "code" while fiddling with the file?
    - I completely delete the "incorrect" file from Garmin connect before trying to upload the edited file?

    Thanks again for the assist!

looks like your workout was not from a training calendar ?

no workout code present in the fit file

  • That worked, thank you!
But it only worked insofar as my ride now shows a load of 500 as per your screenshot. Disappointed

It didn't raise the load as reflected in the 7-day Training Load graph:

So to me my "coach" is the FirstBeat Algorithm that analysis my data and recommends whether I should train harder / easier etc.
[I don't have any actual coach, so the ride was not from any training plan / calendar and so has no workout code.]

So even after tinkering with the file and getting it to show a load of 500, my "coach" still thinks I'm below target and recommends I put in more hours. When in actual fact he should be recommending recovery...

Can you think of a way to adjust my 7-day Training Load?

Thanks again for all the help so far. Slight smile

looking at your training load it shows zero load added with your last ride, correct ?

comparing your fit file with an original from that other thread, it shows that your file is missing a dataset at the end of the file

I copied this other dataset after adding your 500 value into your fit file

mind you there are other values in this copied dataset that I do not know what they represent Wink

up to you to test it Thumbsup

  • Thanks for the effort, but that still made no difference to my 7-day Training Load result. Disappointed

would you mind uploading a resent fit file where you know of it had a load

    just for comparison
