Should I upgrade

I am posting that in this forum. i currently have a 935 and i am very pleased with it. i would like to upgrade to a fenix 6. this is the 945 forum so i have to assume that users have upgraded their 935 in this one more than the fenix 6 forum.

I do not need music or wifi. i just like the look of the fenix 6 although it may be a little heavy. 80 grams is practically twice the weight of my 935.

So, are they advantages to upgrade? i know that now you have a load balance that tells you which zone you workout the most. maybe vo2max is better although i read some posts that it may not.

gps on the 935 is perfect. is the 945 ok with the chipset.

I just read that in one year a 955 and fenix 7 will come out. so do i want to spend $600 for one year knowing that the new watches will have more features.

What do you think ?

Best

  • When does this price will be available ? i assume it is directly from garmin ? Thanks

  • My Chase (amazon) credit card

  • I'm repeating my PSA  :) .. If you are in the US, many health insurance companies will give substantial discounts on Garmins and other fitness trackers. @ 30% seems to be the standard discount on Garmins  - based on my own experience with Blue Cross Blue Shield, and what I've read about Humana. Not sure if companies in other countries do this too.

Poke around your insurance co web page and look for a link for some external (but associated) site that provides this - the name seems to vary from page to page.

In the case of Garmin, you'll eventually get redirected to their site, but with the updated (much lower) prices, and you order from them directly. My friend got her 245M for about $200 that way. The 945 was about $400 early in the summer.

Oh, and many insurances also allow you to collect points for steps taken etc that you can redeem for products - mine are unfortunately limited to a pre-selected catalog :-/ but friends have had the option for Lowe/Amazon gift cards which is obviously much nicer.

    Hope that helps someone.

  • I have blue cross blue shield. Not sure where to ask though.

  • As I mentioned, log on to your BCBS web page, and look at the links there. It will vary from site to site unfortunately, so I can't tell you exactly where to look.

  • Found it. thanks a million. May wait after thansgiving as i am going on vacation and do not want the watch to arrive when i am gone.

  • That's great news, happy it worked.

And you are welcome .. :)
