Software request - "smart" alarm clock

Hi!

Is it possible, since the FR 945 can register datas about the quality of the sleep and the movement, that the alarm clock rings in the best moment of a given time interval?

For example: If i want to wake up between 7:15 and 7:30 am then the watch choses the best moment to wake me up!

Thanks

  • I think there is an IQ App for this, but I also wish it would be supported natively.

  • Yeah! There's an app but it has to be open in order to let the alarm ring..

So it's battery consumption and if you forget to set it every night you won't get up

  • Garmin does not do sleep tracking well at all, this request only makes sense if the device can track your sleep well. Instead of this, let's wish for improved sleep tracking first :)

  • It is not possible.

Garmin don't care sleep, this is the reason why  you can't check how long you sleept

  • Garmin just opened a ticket about my feature-request to add sleep related data to the SDK, please go and up-vote it: forums.garmin.com/.../feature-request-add-sleep-data-to-the-sdk

  • I'm pretty sure it won't be possible as still a lot of the data is analyzed on the servers after sync. A lot of times you can see the widget still shows your asleep even 30 minutes after you've already up and actually outside doing stuff. After sync all comes to normal.

Maybe they could do something like - if near the added wake time, sync(if it can) and calculate a probable best wake time. If it fails use the default one. I'm not sure it has the calculating power to do the analyzes in real-time and I'm pretty sure it uses all past profile collected data to manage it (which would not be really possible to store it on the device without some really good aggregation to it.). I can see some potential issue that could arise from trying to sync like that, but I don't think they are not manageable in anyway.

In a nutshell - I guess it can be done, but it requires not only changing the front end part of the stuff (watches software) but also the backend (their servers)...
