VERY Inaccurate OHR Cold weather

Its below 0 C in Sweden and Ive statrted the season with cross country skiing. The OHR on Forerunner 945 is extremly inaccurate. Its about 50 bpm less than true. Even when wrist is protected from cold weather its doesnt give correct reading after time has passed.

I tried my Fenix 5 and it works allot better. Anyone else with inaccurate OHR with cross country skiing on Forerunner 945?

  • Yes, all muscle flexion is going to affect it. This compounds the problems with OHRM; I learned that long ago doing a lifting workout and got horrid returns.

You'll have a better result with a bicep ohrm in terms of muscle flexion, but you'd still be dealing with restricted blood flow in cold weather.

It's still a better investment to use a chest strap if you're going for consistent accurate Heart rate.

  • I have never said that it is a cold weather issue.

My experience is that the classic ski activity show inaccurate HR in all weather conditions after the “summer” update.
