iPhone 11 Pro + FR 945 Bluetooth

I did some searching and could not find a recent issue but only a few that stemmed from some iOS issues a few months ago.  I have a FR 945 and iPhone 11 Pro and I cannot get the two to connect via Bluetooth.  I've done resets on both devices, toggled Bluetooth on/off, updated to latest OS on both devices.  What gives here?  I can't even set the device up in Garmin Connect because the two don't recognize each other.

Thanks!

  • on his support pages, Garmin writes something on how to solve this problem

    support.garmin.com/.../

  • Thank you, I did refer to that page and it did not help my issue unfortunately.

  • I finally did a hard reset on my watch.  I was able to connect but the watch has pairing device syncing issues.  It will not update or, connect, or sync with Garmin Connect.

  • Hi guys,

I just bought the 945 and have the same issue. My iPhone 11 Pro just doesn’t recognize 945 on Bluetooth. I’ve tried updating iOS, hard reset 945, deleted my 245J but nothing works in connecting my Garmin Connect to the 945. It just sucks and I’ve been stuck on it for 2 hours. What are the actual steps to get it to work??

  • I have that same phone, and while mine will connect, I need to toggle Bluetooth on/off on my phone *all the time* (I just swipe from the top right corner and tap the Bluetooth icon on/off).   It loses connection all the time, and is really annoying.  I want to say it started doing it with one of the earlier firmware updates; 3.9 or 4.0.   It was fine on 3.3

  • Thank you.  I'm still stuck on the initial set up stage.  Iphone wouldn't recognize Garmin 945 as a device on bluetooth; let alone having it connect via Garmin App.  I've reset my network settings on iphone, hard reset my garmin 945, tried following exact steps of opening the app first, then start pairing but no device could be found.  Is there no solution...?

  • Go into the Bluetooth settings on your phone and make sure the watch isn't already there.  If it is, remove it, then restart your phone and fire up the Garmin app to try adding the device again.  If that doesn't work, delete the Garmin app and re-download it (I've had to do this a handful of time over the years for similar issues).   Good luck!

  • thank you!  I've tried that as well.  The truth is the device never showed up on my iphone under bluetooth; not even once.  I know its not my watch that malfunction though because on my work phone (galaxy S9) i can see the garmin 945 even though i've never installed any garmin connect on my S9.  On my partner's iphone, I also don't see Garmin 945 under bluetooth and ofcourse her phone wouldn't even have garmin Connect.  This made me realize its purely iphone and nothing else.  I deleted the app, re-download and installed it 3 times but still no luck.  My last option now is syncing it over usb and hopefully Wifi could work.. I don't know if this is the issue; i did buy the Asian version of the watch and not the Japan version even though I reside in Japan because it is cheaper to buy the Asian version.  My iphone though is a Japan carrier one just because I live here...

I have the exact same issue as you described. My iPhone 11 pro doesn't even recognize my watch under Bluetooth devices. I tried resetting both watch and iPhone settings, reinstalled apps a bunch of times, turned on/off Bluetooth settings several times. Reinstalled garmin connect app. Nothing works. The only way I can transfer data is through usb. I think it's an iPhone issue as I never had this problem when I used Adroid phones.

  • That’s crazy. No issues in my 11 Pro Max.
