Wi-Fi connection problems

I have a new Forerunner 945 and am having difficulty getting a reliable Wi-Fi connection. This watch is actually a replacement I just received after returning one that had button problems. The old 945 didn't have any Wi-Fi problems, but the new one does. I added my Wi-Fi SSID using Garmin Express. When I select that SSID on the watch, the only option I'm presented is to update the password, even though the password was set in Garmin Express. So I update the password on the watch and it says the connection is successful, but when I go to the control menu and click on sync, it says no Wi-Fi networks are available.

I see there are numerous Wi-Fi problems being reported, but nothing suggested works. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Thanks. I saw that but wasn't sure it applied to me since I don't see error code 0200. I do occasionally see error code 0100 when trying to connect.

I had the same 1problem (Error 0105,0200 etc). I removed the wifi password, made it an open network. Ensure your router or hotspot is in 802.11g (2.4 Ghz). And it connected successfully

  • My fr945 only connects to open networks.

As soon as the network is wpa2 protected it says "no internet connection"

    Any advice?

Edit: I tried passwords without special signs. Via connect, manually and express without success.

I faced the exact same problem on Forerunner 945. I went to the authorised Garmin service center. It couldn't be repaired. Its a serious software/ hardware issue

They analysed the watch using their softwares and gave up. They said it's a unique problem. They made a zip file of the software and sent to Garmin. Probably there will some patch updates from Garmin for this in future. So there is no solution. You have to get it replaced.

Meanwhile I got the watch replaced from amazon. New watch had no issues.

  • When was it? Received mine yesterday. Serialnumber starts with 5W90.....

I bought the first one 2 weeks back. Got it replaced last week.

Don't remember the first one's ser no exactly. But yes it was similar. New one starts with 5Z61....

  • I just setup a mobile Hotspot (laptop) now it works just fine. Seems to be a problem with the vodafone box Unamused

  • Somebody else was reporting problems with a Vodafone router. Make sure it’s broadcasting 2.4Ghz. If it’s broadcasting 2.4 and 5 GHz, make sure they have different SSIDs and hook up to the 2.4GHz. Garmin watches do not like 5GHZ.

This has been such a frustrating process. YOU WOULD THINK WE COULD GET SOME INPUT FROM GARMIN HERE????? Received the watch a few days ago. Tried connecting to 2.4 network. Disabled 5g entirely on network. Didnt work. Disabled password entirely on network and it still wouldn't connect. Very frustrating. Always gives a network not found error message. Tried adding manually on app. Tried hotspotting....Nothing worked. Piece of junk.
