Audiobooks

I currently listen to DRM free audiobooks but one annoying thing is the watch doesn't remember my location if I switch books or switch between books and music. Since this is super annoying, I was wondering if anyone has a work around, or even better if garmin was working on a fix for this.

I wish -- same issue with podcasts. You can't exactly skip ahead in the spotify app either -- interval of 15s is all you can do. Trying to skip to an hour in a podcast is futile plus your buttons are likely to be gone by the time you get to it.

Yea, there is the runcasts app but I'm not paying $5 a month for that simply on principal alone.

I gave up and went back to carrying my phone, which defeats half the purchase of why I got my 945 in the first place

  • Excellent point, I'm interested in this too .. if I end up carrying my phone it would make one of the main reasons of getting the 945 redundant.

If Garmin is watching, please consider this - thanks.

  • Strange. My Garmin is preserving the position in podcasts. Also when I switch between different podcasts.

Putting the podcasts manually on the watch.

But overall it is a difficult handling. Not 2019 style, a bit like in the early days of mp3. (That’s why I bought an Apple Watch, lots better for this stuff).

  • How are you guys listening to Podcasts, through spotify?

I don't have spotify and tried Runcasts and it works fine, but you're limited to just a few podcasts in the free subscription.

I use Amazon Music but it doesn't appear to have any podcast subscription option.

  • I totally agree, thanks for raising it. I was just accepting it, so I'm glad you pushed me out of this resignation. An Audiobook and podcast app should come out of the box. It feels so 1990.

  • Until music doesn't kill battery in the same way, having it on the device is a bit of a gimmick to me. I continue to use my trusty old ipod shuffle for audio books.

I have no issues with audiobooks and it does remember the position. I'm using it only in the swimming pool and sauna though, in every other case i prefer my phone.

  • It remembers the position even if you switch books and go back, or switch to spotify music then back to the same book? Mine sure doesn't, so if yours does, let me know what file type you use.

Hopefully they come up with better methods for audiobooks & podcasts since the only reason I upgraded from the 935 was to not have to carry any extra devices. The process should be simpler.

I can switch back and forth between different books and it remembers the position. I can also switch to music and go back and continue the audio book at the previous position. I am not using spotify anymore though, so i am always within the same music-provider. I'm on 3.08 beta.
