Installation Instructions

  1. Connect your Forerunner 945 to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. Download and unzip Forerunner945_308Beta.zip. Place the GUPDATE.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  3. In Forerunner945_308Beta, go to the RemoteSW folder. Place the GUP3114.GCD and GUP3303.GCD file in the \GARMIN\REMOTESW folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  4. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the watch, and wait for the update to finish.
  5. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, place the GUPDATE-280.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder. Rename GUPDATE-280.GCD to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device. To revert the RemoteSW, place the RemoteSW\Downgrades\GUP3114-250.GCD and RemoteSW\Downgrades\GUP-3303-360.GCD in the \GARMIN\REMOTESW folder. NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  • I reported the GC side of this here: https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mobile-apps-web/f/garmin-connect-web/196039/javascript-bug-when-editing-exercise-sets-and-first-set-is-a-rest

But, after asking a colleague with a Fenix 5 (not sure which) he couldn't generate a Strength activity with the first set marked as a "Rest" - while I can do it trivially on the 945 (previous f/w too).

So what? Well, that's how I get either corrupted sync uploads or in the case of the post above a synced multisport where I cannot edit the Strength sets as the GC web page (and Android app) crash out.

    To repeat:

    1. Select Strength
    2. Start and then immediately stop/pause and wait a while
    3. Resume the activity and select Lap to start a set
    4. do a normal bunch of reps/sets (simulated if you want)
    5. Stop and save

At this point you should see "Sets" with a first set of "--" reps. Try to sync and./or edit this in GC. You will fail. The reason is in the client-side code in the link above which *assumed* that the first set is never a "Rest".

Two things to fix - the watch should never save a rest as a first set and GC should be more forgiving over "corrupt" data - even if that data is straight from another Garmin product.

  • Hi, my battery app "Battery Info" didn't recognize charging at PC. This means the charging flag is not set, if one connects the watch to the PC

  • As a follow-up, the picture I am adding was taken about five minutes ago after an hour'ish or so on a complete charge.

I did a 40 min strength training program before this full charge, which burned through 8% of battery (there is no GPS or OHRM, I am using an HRM-Tri). You can see I've burned through 2% battery in about an hour in just activity tracking. The burn rate (and daily estimate to the right) are actually at it's lowest as the % was reporting at 55% burn (reporting 259% per day) about 20 minutes prior.

It seems that cycling through my widgets, in this case, only up to one from my watch face, spikes the battery usage (this app seems to report in real-time). That above mentioned 55% dropped in random increments as I stayed in the widget (25%,17.4%,10.32%,9.32%,8.48% at which the widget timed out and returned to the watch face). The ironic thing was when, after I fully charged the watch and went the battery widget initially, it was reporting only 0.004%. It spiked up to 55% after I returned to the watch face and then back to the widget to see if there was a difference.

So, is there a bug in cycling through your widgets? Checking the battery info widget as aI typed this, I've already lost 0.5% battery. Did a hard reset just now, and that did nothing.

*Pic loaded sideways when you click on it, I don't know why.

  • When are we going to see a new beta or release of 3.08? It’s almost a month now.

  • nearly 10% gone in under 3 1/2 hours in activity tracking.

    I'm not exaggerating.

  • Hi,

    offtopic:

I am the Battery Info developer. You can share the battery diagram to even show better what's going on. Maybe you need to activate the expert mode in the settings or in the menu of Battery Info (long press UP on the main screen). If you have further questions you can write a PM or use the contact developer button in the app store.

  • So first off, love the app. Secondly, I did have the expert mode on, I just had no clue what it did or what it added or how it actually worked. Now I do.

With that being said...   From this morning. Glad there's a chart. Mad that the battery life stinks with this Beta.

  • Please share the relative consumption graph. This kind of graph does show the battery consumption from value to value. With my 945 it's below 0.5 %/h on day-to-day (no pulse ox) and between 2-4 %/h on activities

  • I'm going to do this in two posts for clarity. I just completed a 40min'ish strength training (again, no OHRM, with a chest strap). This first set of pics is from BEFORE the workout and the next is AFTER the workout.

State of Battery BEFORE THE WORKOUT
