Last week I climbed Mont Blanc which is about 4810 m.
Started the activity(hiking) at about 2400 m and went up until 3100 where I tried to save it and this is where the problems started, I could not end the activity and here's what I tried:
- Saving the activity
- Discarding the activity
- Turning the watch off and then on
- Resume and then all the steps above
- Resume later and then all the steps above
Saving or discarding only restarted the watch (I should the triangle and then the loading maps message) and then it should the activity again.
Doing a factory reset was the only way I was able to get rid of this, but even after the factory reset I started a test activity which (hiking I think) which lasted only 5 seconds and the I got exactly the same problem (after some research I found out that I had to just keep trying save or discard until it works at least 5-6 times sometimes 10 or more)
The same thing happened when I went from 3100 to 3800, from 3800 to 4800 and back to 3800 and also from 3800 till 2800, I tried multiple activities here hiking, climbing and even running but they all had the same behavior. Now for the interesting part, it didn't happen from 2800 till 2400 and it hasn't happened since.
I haven't encountered this problem before and haven't encountered it since although I did mostly biking after that.
Does anyone have more details or a fix for this? Cause after messing up one of my most important activities this year I'm not sure if I should start looking into alternatives.
This seems to be related to this, only difference is that I'm running 2.80 instead of 2.70
