Swim and bike mode issues with Forerunner 945

Hello,

Hello,

Bought the watch in early July through Amazon US (I'm living in Europe, but local Garmin distributor has not had it on stock.). Since receiving it, the watch has issues that make it impossible for me to track any pool swim or bike activity:

1. When doing swim pool, I start activity, and then at the end of first lap, I can use lap button to mark the end of the lap. However, afterwards the lap button doesn't work any more, i.e. it won't start the next lap. If I discard, and then restart activity, the sequence repeats.

2. At the end of bike activity, when I select to save the activity, the watch hangs at "Saving". It doesn't react to any buttons, I have to do hard reset.

I tried with two software updates, 2.50 and now 2.70, in the hope that the problems will be fixed, but to no avail. Along with each of these updates, I did full reset (both data and settings). I also tried with full reset several other times, but problems are always there.

In waiting, hoping that problems will be fixed through a software update, my one-month long return window for Amazon expired. Today I brought watch to local Garmin distributor, but was told that they are doing servicing and replacements only for units sold through them, and that I'd have to bring the watch to regional Garmin center, in neighboring country. I also just tried to contact Garmin through chat, on support pages, but after I describe the problem, and press "Chat" button, only a window with "Retrieving Config - Please wait" message gets open by my browser, and nothing else happens.

So I'm writing here in the hope that someone could point me how to contact Garmin support, and also to check are there other people encountering similar issues, and are there any workarounds. Please also note that I had Fenix 5X (worked like charm!) for several years before ordering this Forerunner unit, so I'm not first time user.

Thanks.

    Hello,

To add to previous message: It seems that unavailability of chat on Garmin support pages yesterday was temporarily, so eventually I was able to get in touch with support.  After some ping-pong between US and UK support, I was pretty much told that my only option is to keep updating the device and doing full resets, and hope for problems to resolve at some point down the road.

Got pointer to 2.72 beta version of software, tried to install it manually, but it won't go.  After some more digging for anything helpful on the net, I came to realize that this is probably because my device is so-called APAC version.  Have no clue why would device that is sold on US site and delivered to Europe be such version, but that's how it is.  So probably this software update is not compatible to my device.

Besides problems mentioned in previous post, device have issues in pairing with Garmin Connect app on my phone (after 2.70 it won't pair at all with my Android phone, but it pairs with my son's iPhone), and also from the beginning it refuses to connect to my WiFi network most of the time (reporting 0300 and 0500 errors).

So I get in touch with Amazon, requesting to return device even if return window closed, on the ground that the device is APAC version, that I was not aware of.  There were kind enough to grant my request, so I'm probably returning it in a day or two.  It's a shame, as I really liked the device, it has all the functionality that I need, and it's very light, solving the only issue that I had with my Fenix 5X.  I'm aware that probably all of the issues that I've encountered are software problems, that will be solved in the future, but almost nothing that is important to me works at the moment, it's pretty much a brick.  It's disappointing that Garmin didn't solved these issues so far, when it's already four and half months after the device released.

    Thanks.
