Maps nawigation - what's wrong?

Help me please - I have some problem with navigation on my forerunner 945 (use it for the first time) and I can't solve it

I want to navigate to some choosen point on the map so.... I go to map - move cursor to the place that interests me and what is next? How can I mark the place so that the wach direct me there? I tried garmin's instruction https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/fenix5plus/EN-US/GUID-C69B9401-322E-4DB0-AD23-3678F17DA862.html but I can't do point no 4 which says "Hold to select the point indicated by the crosshairs. " When I press the button it just scrolls down

What am I doing wrong? Is it possible to navigate to the place/spot I choose?

You are referencing the Fenix + manual.

This is the 945 manual:

When you have selected the destination on the map (crosshairs), hold START.
