Bug: Ant+ devices stop connecting after a while to my fr945 2.80

I've seen this on occasion as well but sometimes it's after a week, sometimes after a month.  Once it stops connecting, no Ant+ connections work until a power cycle.  Just plugging it into the computer isn't enough as that doesn't actually power cycle the device.  I've seen this on the Fenix 5+ several times over the past year, but I never got it on my 935.

BLE connections continue to work without issue in this state.

Yes the time in between varies a lot and when ant+ is gone the ble connection to the phone still remains working fine. It's really annoying not knowing if and when it won't connect.

Agreed.  The good news is I've never had it fail mid way through an activity.  So if it's working when you start an activity,  You aren't going to lose data half way through.

Still, it needs to get fixed.  And the more people that report it, the better.

This has still been a bug since initial release that is slowly improving. In 2.4 it was really bad - I had to reset 3-4 times a week. Now it is better like yours and reset only needed once every 2-4 weeks. I have reported it to Garmin but never had any sort of response.

With the previous firmware (ante 2.80) and before sensor hub 2.50 this issue was much more frequent.

But even now it occurs sometimes.

It seems that it's not so easy for Garmin to get rid of this issue, because I did already three firmware update.

Today before the run I had to hard reset again the watch, that didn't want to connect to the foot pods and to an external Garmin chest strap heart rate monitor.

But after the reboot, everything was good. I didn't manage to crash the watch even with all these things in one hour easy run:

- external sensors connected (2 Runscribe pods and one external heart rate monitor)

- 1 CIQ app GaitCoach to monitor my running form and to look at running power with the Runscribe pods

- intervals workout screen active (workout downloaded by GarminConnect with heart rate as target) with the heart rate gauge active

- following a course with map (with three fields on the map, so I could look at pace and heart rate and in the same time I was looking at the course in the map)

- listening to podcast with earbuds

- audio alerts active for heart rate monitor and pace (audio  in the earbuds)

Well, starting the activity was a bit annoying, but after this very happy how the watch performed. 

If Garmin fixes the initial sensor connection problems, it's really a super watch.

I assume you are not talking about a hard reset, which fully restores all your settings.  But rather just a power off/on?

Simply hold light button 20 seconds. It seems that Garmin calls this "hard reset", but this doesn't erase any user data or settings. Initially only power on/off was enough, but most recently I have noticed I have to do the "hard reset" (light button 20 seconds), because just power off/on it's not enough.

I can confirm this happened to me as well, pretty sure since FW 2.8 as it was in the last 10 days or so.
