Two Sapphire Fenix 6 Pro’s, backlight / contrast issues

I bought two fenix 6’s today, both are the Carbon grey DLC coated with sapphire glass.

Have a look at these photos, my wife's is on the left hand side and mine the right. Her looks very yellow compared to mine which looks far crisper and sharper. Both have backlight set to 50%.

Any thoughts on if there’s a setting other than backlight that could cause this before I go back to the shop where I bought them?

  • I have Sapphire and I would go with that again. I did compare mine with a Pro I saw in a store the other day. The difference was exactly as with your pictures. I don't like the blueish color. My Sapphire is set to 100% (gesture) and I think it works at looks good that way. Enjoy.

  • @Peter H:  It's very hard to decide. Thanks for this comment, this may do the difference to go with Sapphire.

I went for a F6X Sapphire. I'd rather have more reflections that this atrocious blueish backlight. Anyway I already did some trailmarathons with mine and never had any problems wit reading the screens, rain or strong sunlight. Also the gunmetal gray bezel looks better imo.

  • Every single Sapphire based Fenix 6 I have seen has the blue backlight. The three Fenix 6XPS that I have come across are as white as it gets in comparison.

Maybe no ARC on the 6 as opposed to the 6X?

I just bought Fenix 6 Sapphire Titanium S/N 63N22 and I feel like I'm looking through a piece of rice paper with washed colors, but after looking at some of the pictures in this thread i have become uncertain as i think some of them are worse than what i have

  • Are you OK with an unprotected Gorilla Glass? If not, you will probably want a screen protector. But screen protectors usually add some reflections. So, in this case, the Gorilla glass might still have fewer reflections than the sapphire glass, but the difference would be lower. I guess you would not put a screen protector on the sapphire glass…

How do you feel about potential scratches on bezel? I generally don't like scratches that are too much apparent. For ordinary black-painted bezels, scratches are quite likely and they will be likely quite noticable. This is not good. You can however buy watches with a silver bezel (scratches are still likely, but much less noticable) or a DLC bezel (scratches are much less likely). Well, DLC bezel is there for some sapphire variants. Silver bezel might be however present just in the basic model – at least I have seen this with the 6S.

  • I think it looks fine - as in I don't think anything's wrong with it. Here's what I have. 100% backlight sitting by window on cloudy day.

Let me quote my post from a thread regarding sapphire glass scratches. I scratched my 6x sapphire

I first recommend to you is to try the toothpaste, that maybe help for a minor scratch.
  • All of the sapphire screens have anti reflective coating, as far as I am aware, whether 6 or 6x.
