Two Sapphire Fenix 6 Pro’s, backlight / contrast issues

I bought two fenix 6’s today, both are the Carbon grey DLC coated with sapphire glass.

Have a look at these photos, my wife's is on the left hand side and mine the right. Her looks very yellow compared to mine which looks far crisper and sharper. Both have backlight set to 50%.

Any thoughts on if there’s a setting other than backlight that could cause this before I go back to the shop where I bought them?

Tiny bit of backlight bleed. But otherwise not bad at all.

All the watches that I’ve seen with this kind of bleed usually have a really cool blueish white. Which I don’t think is necessarily a bad thing. People seem to be confusing the cool blue tinged white with the blue blacks.

You should look for s/n 408 or higher

I’m asking again: what about 6S sapphire? I have ordered one last time now and asked for the highest possible serial number. Should arrive today. All the 6S I’ve recieved till now had purple tinted screens.

I still haven’t seen a good 6S in this thread though. Hoping they even exist?

For some reason this thread has trended towards being almost exclusively about 6x’s.

I’ve seen plenty of good 6s examples on Reddit.

I have a recent  6s Sapphire SN: 65408XXXX from Garmin and it's way better than the one I purchased from REI. It's exactly the same as the 5s Plus Sapphire that I'm returning.

  • Backlight issues are not just on sapphire either.  I had a 6S Pro that had this exact issue.  I have a second 6S Pro now that is somewhat better but not awesome.  And this is the second one with button issues, though the button issues on this one did not develop until I'd had it for a couple of weeks.

I'm currently swapping off between a Venu and a Fenix 6S Pro.  The Venu has so many issues right now.  I might just stop fitness tracking for a while and just go back to my old Samsung Gear S2.  I'm not sure if any of these watches are worth the money they're asking for them.

I bought Fenix 6X Sapphire (634009XXX) in September. It was my first Garmin watch. I’ve noticed immediately that when I turn on the backlight colors become washed out. But the worst thing for me was that when I was looking at the watch from an angle it was almost totally unreadable. I’ve contacted Garmin support via phone and I was asked to send them photos of my watch which I did. The next day I was informed that it should not looked like that and I was asked to go to the Garmin service for replacement. The guy at the Garmin service compared my watch to the one they had and told me the there is nothing wrong with my watch. It was because their watch was also from the beginning of production. I’ve told him that I will keep my watch for now and that I will be back in a month, when they will have watches from new delivery.

I went yesterday to Garmin service. 3 servicemen again have compared my watch to 4 models they had just to tell me that all watches are the same. They have also told me that I am the first person to contact them with such an issue and that they have never heard about this case.

I did not give up and I asked them to bring a new watch from latest delivery. The one which was brought was 63410XXXX and it was perfect. All of them could not simply believed how huge the difference is. Not only the colors but also viewing from the angle was totally different. My watch was replaced without any problems.

To wrap it up. There is/was something wrong with display or backlight or both in these watches. The is no argue. I am not saying that everybody should try to replace their watches if they are ok with it. But if you pay this amount of money for a watch and you’re unhappy with the one you got you should simply replaced it.
