Take today for example an easy walk shows Ave temperature 27c Min 25c Max 28c. Where is the watch getting these figures from? Lucky if it was 13 - 14c outside at the time. The weather widget was showing less at the time.

Garmin decided long time ago to record and give us access to the internal temperature sensor. This sensor is only for calibration of the Barometer. As long as you wear the watch, it is most time useless data (I think, except of swimming...).
If you want better temperature readouts, buy a Garmin Tempe ANT+ Sensor. I use this, but if i put it on my shoe, it will be heated up by the sun. I did not find a good place for it when hiking in the last seven years were neither Bodyheat nor sun would affect it.
