Multisport (Swimrun) missing ability to "Download Heart Rate" (plus small rant about 945 hr+swim gps)

Hi,

What's up with that? In run I can see "Download Heart Rate", in that Multisport (Swimrun) I can't., not even on the individual sports :(

As my 945 didn't pair with HRM-Tri and even manually tried to find it during the activity as I noticed that the HR is BS and figured out it's optical HR.
No luck. It was in need of a reboot but didn't want to do that during the sport and hey I can always download it later, apparently Garmin says NO YOU CAN'T.

Is this some known missing feature or issue or what?

Starting new activity screen should have better indicators that where's the HR coming from, would help notice that oh, this 945 need reboot,
and this with ANT+. I've never had these HR connectivity issues with Garmin watches before 945 :(

And new GPS and 945 firmware, 4 swims out of 9 failed :( Maybe Garmin should use components from manufacturer that is proven to work.
Sony apparently doesn't. Don't know what is the ANT+/BT chip in this versus older ones, but it's also crap, or some other issue with this needing reboot to get ANT+ connection to work.

  • Most simply fix that comes to my mind, won't even need any graphics designers or anything. Just add small E to the symbol when it's external HR.

I follow you now.  I was unaware if a single activity is set as your favorite that you would get the screen with the black heart.  I wonder what purpose that serves?  But that being the case, I agree it's either a bug or an oversight because you wouldn't know which sensor is in use.  We've had a lengthy conversation and I apologize I was of no help.  Lol.

  • Or they could just fix the sensor hub so that the HR will always connect without reboots as it used.. This is a new problem because this watch has other problems :D

  • No worries. I was kind of hoping that I've just missed something, but if I have, then you have also :)

Best of luck.  Hopefully someone with some insight on the issue will post soon.

  • I was doing some swim-run activities with my 945 at the end of our Summer here and having similar experiences with some of the swim legs. I know Garmin have been working hard to resolve this but it does appear to be challenging them. I can't speak for the HRM-tri as I only used a standard strap so no HR in the swim. Best thing you can do is to contact Garmin Support and log a case with them.
