Garmin Connect shows wrong activity time

Hi Everyone,

I've been trying to solve this issue for days now but with no luck so far. Whenever I record/track an activity on my watch, both my phone and watch at the time show the correct time; however, after my workout is done and i connect to my Garmin Connect App.. the activity history shows the wrong time.

I've already reset my phone and watch settings, even removed and reinstalled the Garmin Connect app, but nothing i've done corrected the issue.

For an example. I went for a run this morning at 7am and once i'm done my phone shows i started my workout at 8am.. it's always 1 hour ahead.

When i track myself using the "track me" it seems fine, but anything else like indoor running or strength training show the wrong time. Always 1 hour ahead.

Time on my watch has been set to Auto and synced with GPS+GLONASS, but why is my Garmin Connect show a different time?!

Please help

Thanks,

  • Wrong timezone in GC for indoor activities. Nothing specific about the 945, other devices affected too. No idea if Garmin fixes this. We have reported it via mail, silence since then.

so this is a common issue with Garmin Connect and not the watch itself? Are you sure about this? I'm not doubting you i'm just trying to understand what i should do next

I spoke to a rep this morning and we've verified a few settings together. After all said and done he has submitted a replacement for me but i need to pay $200 bucks as collateral and will get refunded once they receive the current device.

Even though my time is set to Pacific Standard Time, when i reviewed my run this morning it shows Mountain time...

What did you do? did you learn to live with it? If this is a known issue why hasnt Garmin fixed their app? Sorry but i expect a bit more for a $600 watch! how could the most basic feature be off and they're going radio silent on this?

At this point, should i even swap it out for a new device?

Anyone else in this forum is experiencing the same issue as mentioned above? If everyone is having the same issue then maybe it's best if i just hold on to this watch and wait for an app update from Garmin cuz the replacement would have the same issue.

  • There is a setting within Garmin Connect interweb to set Upload Time Zone. You’ve not mentioned that. Have you checked that?

  • Yes, common issue. Started around mid of July and several devices are affected. I personally know of 945, 935 and Edge 520 as my friends use them and have exactly the same problem.

There was a thread here in this forum and the resolution of Garmin was to replace the watch which is of course entirely nonsense as this would only cause trouble and not fix anything.

Well, understand your frustration but for me this is only a small issue compared to several other more severe things.

Edit: here is the thread I mentioned: forums.garmin.com/.../strength-cycling-training-all-indoor-recorded-in-wrong-time-zone

  • Checked and never changed it. As stated above, other devices are also impacted. I even changed timezone back and forth to be sure that the correct setting is there and not only displaying a fake but indoor activities still come up with a wrong timezone.

Yeah I did, it's set to my time zone (Pacific) but the app still shows wrong time zone (Mountain)

The rep also saw that and said that's a weird glitch.

Thanks Fischest. I think at this point i will go ahead and process the exchange and see what happens.

Honestly though this is quite disappointing considering it's a $600 watch that cant even record the right activity time.

  • Well it is a software product living in a complex software environment and bugs are normal. Independent of the price.

The (often discussed) issue is that it takes Garmin so long to acknowledge the bug and even longer to fix.
