Bezel 945 vs 935

I have been using the FR935 for 2 years without any issue and was highly satisfied with this watch.

I was wearing it 24/7. With high excitement I purchased the 945 where I am already on a replacement unit due to the button issue.

Now after 2 weeks the bezel is what is a surprise to me as I have a crack/dent (don't know how you would call it). I have decoloration which I can not clean away as I was used to by the FR935. Furthermore there is a place where I have grazing.

I am quite surprised that the quality of the bezel decreases with new and more expensive models.

My Question is, can the bezel be replaced w/o shipping the unit, can I purchase a new one and replace it? Could't find it by myself online.

I love Garmin, however after the 6th unit of a vector 3 and now the issues with FR945 I am getting a tendency to switch and try something else. Usually I am not easily scared away and Issues can happen. But staring at this every day will rise my anger. I could accept this If I wouldn't have had the FR935 which was perfect and took so much abrasiveness of my life style.

I hope there is some help.

Thanks a lot!

Certainly a very weird camera glitch!

How long have you had the watch? I don't know how consumer law works where you are, but in the UK, the first action would have been to go back to the seller and and have it replaced for a completely new unit - the same should happen if the 2nd watch is also faulty.

I wouldn't try swapping the bezel/case yourself - you will certainly invalidate any warranty you have if you start to take it apart.

  • Thanks,

Garmin confirmed my Unit using the SN to be original.

I can't go to the seller, as Garmin themselves replaced it already before. I now have it for less then a month.

Well see what Garmin Support is going to replay on my last message.

Thanks all for the interesting comments and discussions!

  • So final confirmation from Garmin.

Warranty does not cover chemical brought on to the watch. As examples they mentioned sun cream, which appropriately can cause this. Based on Garmin Support this is not written anywhere but still their response and position.

Please be aware and remove the watch prior applying sun cream.

Strangely I did not use any since I own this watch...

I guess this would fall under cosmetic damage.  This is a partial clip from the FR 945 warranty:

This Limited Warranty does not apply to: (i) cosmetic damage, such as scratches, nicks and dents

This is a clip from the owner's manual under device care:

NOTICE! Avoid chemical cleaners, solvents, and insect repellents that can damage plastic components and finishes
    .
NOTICE! Thoroughly rinse the device with fresh water after exposure to chlorine, salt water, sunscreen, cosmetics, alcohol, or other harsh chemicals. Prolonged exposure to these substances can damage the case.
Since you didn't expose your watch to any of these, it's a shame they weren't able to assist you further.
