945 not saving run route

Several times in recent weeks, I have got home, and uploaded my run to find that that there is pace data, lap data, heart rate data etc, but no map data. Somehow the watch has had GPS running well enough to get pace and lap data, but not been able to store the route.

  • Are you sure you had a GPS fix? The 945 can do speed and distance using its internal sensors only without GPS. Maybe you can include a map screen in you run activity so you can check during your run the GPS is tracking correctly.

  • CloggyAbroad - that may be what happened. I am surprised that the watch could not get a fix in an hour's running, but I will  to check in future. It does seem much slower to get a fix than previous Garmin running watches.

  • Happened me twice..... about a month ago...and today. Its very strange how it could not fixed in an hour running with VERY visible sky.

  • I can only repeat what I said 6 months ago. A map screen to verify you're tracking correctly during the activity would be a good starting point.

  • I've had this issue. Turns out there's 2 causes.

    My symptoms:

    1) distance stays as zero during the run, despite pace being updated accurately

    2) does not save successfully - hangs on the saving prompt longer than I care to wait (10-15 minutes)

After much stuffing around, turns out there's 2 separate causes:

    1) too many GPX course files loaded on the watch via Garmin Connect - I had maybe 5 trail runs of 20km - 50km. The cure was to delete all but the one I wanted for this run

    2) too many training workouts (eg. intervals, repeats, etc) saved on the watch from Garmin Connect - I had about 10 different ones with for example 5 repeats of 4 - 8 steps). The cure was to delete all but the one I wanted to use this session

The display of "manage storage" in Garmin Connect always showed something like 15000K available and 15 slots available - no issue there, and no issue reported when saving the GPX's or workouts to the watch
