Compass Issue After FW 2.70

I've always made it a practice to do a hard reset of my watches, get a good GPS fix and go through all my widgets immediately following a FW update just to make sure everything is still working correctly.  I finally got around to updating to FW 2.70 from the last beta and I had a problem with Garmin's stock compass widget.  No matter how I moved or turned, the compass wouldn't read higher than 273 degrees or lower then 17 degrees. Basically, anything north or northwest no longer registered. Recalibrating didn't help.  I eventually solved the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the widget so it's no longer a problem, but I'm curious if anyone had this issue?

  • I have just checked - everything is working smoothly for me w/o any special hard reset or re-installation/calibration.

  • Great catch TMK17, I never really used the compass but I went and checked, indeed this behavior around north when slowly turning the watch it "skips over" the northern degrees. Power-down + Power-up solved the issue for me. Cannot confirm or refute this is new in 2.70 though, I didn't inspect compass well enough even prior.

Yes. Exactly what I was seeing, but the restart didn't work for me.
