Calculate Heart Rate Zones. Mistake?

Hi friends!

I think my Forerunner 945 strangely calculate Heart Rate Zones.

"Lactate Threshold (bpm)" and "Max Heart Rate" set automatically on trainings(Not manual set).
Selected method: "Base on Percent of Lactate Threshold Heart Rate"

I got now this training zones:

Is that right or wrong?

The Forerunner 945 show me these Zones during training.

  • There is no right or wrong with HR Zones, they are just a definition to make it easier to talk about your HR. That being said, the numbers do look relatively normal for a 5 zone model based on LT of 177. What is it you find weird?

    "Max Heart Rate" set automatically

    219 and 218 as max hr ?

check and manually set your max hr and only change after a new max hr test

    read ... determine-maximum-heart-rate

    question ?

do you know which hr-zone your watch uses during training

    running or secondary ?

    happy & safe sporting

  • Actually the "upper bound" of the highest zone does not need to match directly the max hr (in fact, I would recommend adding some extra there). Given a heart rate you need to be able to answer the question of "Which zone am I in?", and that is most definetly the highest Zone if your heart-rate is at or even above your last known max hr. If you never reach the "top end" of Zone 5, that is absolutly not a problem.

  • The previous time LT of 175 was shown at the beginning of 5 Zone (Red).
Now LT of 177 at the beginning of 4 Zone (Orange).
    I thought it was strange.

  • 219 and 218 as max hr ?

Yes, my max HR for running -  218.

LT and Max HR determined many times in training. they're right.

do you know which hr-zone your watch uses during training

    running or secondary ?

I think for running is used running hr-zone.

don't know why do we need a secondary

    thank you for the insight

about the secondary one....and LT with zone 4 and zone 5

did you check all Garmin platforms reflect the same zone settings

check Garmin Connect Web, Garmin Connect Mobile , Watch

    happy & safe sporting

  • check Garmin Connect Web, Garmin Connect Mobile , Watch

Yes I checked it first of all, in Watch and in the mobile application the same calculate as on the website. It was just easier to take a screenshot on the site.

My main question. Is it normal that the LT is at the beginning of zone 4.

The training plan specifies the zone number for the training.

I'm afraid that due to incorrect calculation I will work on too high pulse Disappointed

  • I also have mine set to use %LT and mine dont look anything like that. My LT is at the top of Zone 4 and my Max HR is the top of Zone 5. Have you tried hitting reset on the bottom of the HR zones? It might not have recalculated the zones based on the newer values.

mmm...hoping for the more knowledgable users to chime in did Slight smile

    so,

your LT went up from 175 to 177 which is good

and whatever value your LT is it should always be reflected within the same zone number

and all zone setups are equal across the Garmin platforms

is it the first LT value you get with the FR945

mine on FR935 shows this, with 100% starting at zone 5

    happy & safe sporting

  • I press reset for Running and get this!

Now LT is at the beginning of zone 5

So exactly was the calculation error :/

I'm going to reset all the calculations.

and Former Member thank you very much for support!
