SW 2.70 WHR swim

"Changes made from version 2.50 to 2.64:

  • Added ability to enable wrist-based heart rate for swimming (pool and open water). To enable this feature: 1. Open Menu 2. Scroll to 'Wrist Heart Rate' and enter menu 3. Scroll to 'While Swimming' and toggle to 'On'"

This is not mentioned in 2.7 changelog. Is it disabled again or can we still use it in 2.7?

Is open water wrong stroke lenght, total stroke count and SWOLF fixed?

    When you say "a few", what are you basing this on?  I really don't think it matters if it's a few, many, half, or the majority that will be the deciding factor if the feature is implemented.  It all comes down to if Garmin feels the results are accurate enough to support this feature.  Even if an option such as leaving it turned off as Chabier suggested, it's Garmin Support that has to deal with returned devices and support request for those who have issues.  I'm sure you're familiar with all the post about the oHRM working poorly for running, rowing, cycling, strength training; basically anything with a lot of wrist movement.  Throw water in the mix and this will multiply several times.

    Garmin advice in the beta announcement  that we have to be aware that the readings in the water could be not accurate 100 %. I don´t think anybody complain, or even send the watch to Garmin just because of that. I can deal with a slightly low or high heart rate because of technical issues to measure it correctly while swimming. In fact, I prefer that instead of getting zero results in every pool activity i do. It´s very frustrating going to the pool almost everyday, watch on, and getting the message of "training status: no status or unproductive".

    I know I can´t complain loudly because I knew the moment I bought my 945 that OHR  couldn´t be used in the pool, but this beta was a huge gift for us swimmers. So I´d love Garmin leave it permanently.

    I read it.  There's always been a disclaimer about the oHRM accuracy and this hasn't stopped people from posting on the forum, contacting support or returning their device because they feel it doesn't work well.  This has been going on prior to the beta for all of their devices with oHRM's.  I'm not against you receiving the feature or using it (though through my own test I think it fails miserably and I'm not one who believes something that is off is better than nothing at all), I'm just giving my opinion on what I think the deciding factor will be for Garmin.

    Former Member My watch was updated automatically and I want to keep OHR for swimming, how can I switch back to 2.64 ? Thanks
    or will there be soon a new beta to continue testing ?

    Same here :( But I don't want to downgrade to 2.64 because apparently when downgrading I would lose the settings. I hope there will be a new beta based on 2.7 with the swimming OHR...

    I hope that too. It´s really, really frustrating finishing my swimming this morning and see how training status has disappeared from the activity stats.
