Sport mode for Orienteering lacks in my FR 945

I can't find a sport mode for orienteering in my watch nor on the connect platform. I tried to duplicate trail running sport mode and rename it to Orienteering. However, when the watch upload the orienteering activities, they are shown as trail running. I do both trail running and orienteering and would like to have them separate in my activities.

How should I resolve this issue?

You can only rename it on Connect. Changing an activity name on the watch will not change the sport name that is brought into Connect - this will reflect the original activity type used. In Connect you can change the title but the sport type selection is limited to the pull down list. I just tile all my O races as O-location/event

I've done like this but I would have liked to have it automatically as O when I sync the watch.

To ID the sport you want in Garmin Connect, you'll need to use a Connect IQ app, I'm not sure what's currently in the store for Orienteering, but if you can't find one, you can always suggest someone build one at https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/f/app-ideas (ideas for new apps)

Unfortunately you can't. Garmin has pretty few sports available.

I've copied Trail Running and renamed it, but then as Connect does not have Orienteering, all the orienteering is just trail runs.

I think that they could solve this by adding "Sport" setting to some of these apps, where you could change in this case Trail Running to Orienteering in the copy, creating totally new app for these different sports is probably the reason Garmin does not have many sports.
