I agree. Mostly.
My major two reasons for buying the 945 (coming from a 935):
- music, as I became a podcast fan this year and was fed up taking my smartphone with me
- wanted to stay on top of the list…
I am not (yet) convinced from the new Garmin package and taking into account the price of the watches I may will revert back to my beloved FR935. What do you think?
Isn't it ultimately your…
I'm on my second 945. I haven't sold my 935 at I'm expecting this 945 to fail soon
Feature set improvement is weak. Quality is terrible.
I have to correct myself somehow regarding battery. After the second charging cycle battery lasts as long as on the 935. I got around 0.6 percent battery loss per hour with around 1 hour gps on per day and phone connected during the day. That's equal to the fr935. Garmin introduced backgriund calculation a few months ago and maybe we see this during the first couple of days to sync to the user leading to higher battery drain.
In my opinion, if you don't have the 935 and money. Isn't a problem the 945 it's fine. I don't have any issues with GPS, OHR is great and battery life not terrible (worse than 935 but not too bad). However if you already have the 935 don't make the same mistake I did. The only reason you might be interested in the upgrade is if you care about maps and music. I use maps for cycling but never used music feature. Others features over the 935 are totally useless. For insurance, the heat acclimation is a fake. Compared with last summer using 935, the 945 showed exactly the same pattern in vo2max tendency as expected while running in the heat despite I was 100% acclimated. The pulse Ox you never are going to use it. Body battery is a curiosity but meaningless... An so on.
I'm not saying 945 is a bad watch, just saying that but any means it is better than the 935 so if you are happy with the 935 don't be fooled by Garmin, the 945 is not an upgrade at all.
