Rogue Echo bike and Garmin 945 or Garmin Tri-band?

How can I connect a Rogue Echo Bike monitor to my Garmin 945 to grab speed/distance/watts etc.? It looks like Rogue says to use a Polar T31 HR monitor, which I see is not compatible with the 945? Maybe there is a Garmin equivalent to the Polar T31, or some other tech or trick to make this work? I do have the Garmin Tri-Band currently in addition to the watch. Thank you!

By looking at the specs of the rogue echo bike I'd say you can't. The bike does not transmit data in any standard form.

The Polar T31 HR monitor is used so you can see your heart rate on the bike's display. You don't need it, because you already have a HR monitor in your watch, and in case you are not satisifed with its accuracy you can use any ANT+ or BLE heart rate strap.

  • Thank you tmk2, I appreciate your taking a look, I guess I can manually type in speed and distance and any other stats from the Echo bike and attach to the workout that already has the hr data from my tri band hr monitor or 945 watch.  I’m surprised Rogue cheaped out on this since all of the Concept 2 gear has great tracking through the pm5 monitor and is used in CrossFit games and this bike seems to be a peer to that product range.  Thanks again!

Surprisingly most indoor bikes, including some high-end ones, do not provide any kind of data transmission to the outside world.

  • I do this with my indoor bike - in fact you only need to input the distance and Garmin computes the average speed from the workout duration.

Sorry for replying to an old thread.

What app do you use to track? For example, I would like to do some interval of 20 cal max effort 1 min rest.

  • The built-in indoor bike app should do.

With Garmin 245 Music and the default bike app I only get garbage out when I push it through Strava.

I did attach a Wahoo RPM Cadence sensor but it doesn't show up.

When I use the Elliptical paid (2 EUR) workout app I did get the Cadance out correctly.

I think I'm going to add an RPM Speed sensor too and call it a day and stick with the Elliptical app.

It's pretty sad when I added a review to my purchase and criticized in my review the lack of connectivity from the control unit Rogue just suppressed my review.

Use "Indoor bike" instead of "Bike". If the 245 doesn't have built-in indoor bike profile, then disable GPS for indoor activities.

@tmk2 you were right I can just use the built-in Ride app. I wrote up a post how to setup sensors on the bike for Distance lorinc-hever.medium.com/how-to-connect-your-rogue-echo-bike-to-garmin-strava-or-zwift-2cd4f78f7195

  • Wow Lorinc, great job on discovering a solution and also on the very clear write up.  I ended up selling my Rogue Echo bike for a Concept 2 BikeErg awhile back because connectivity is critical for me.  As a side note, I had the same experience with my review being suppressed on the Rogue site.  I think the pathetic thing about it is I didn't lambast the bike or anything, I probably said this is perfect except the lack of connectivity.  I wonder if you would have seen it before you purchased the Echo bike and paused, or at least known what you were getting into.  I haven't purchased anything from Rogue since then because of the cherry picked review system they have.  Anyway, great write up again, I know this will help others in the same situation, well done!
