Incident detection and InReach notification?

I've had one false-alarm Incident Detection (trail run with an abrupt stop, I think) but today it was legit: I took a decent fall but recovered and was okay. Incident detection was going off. But I had no cell reception. But I did have my InReach turned on. Had I actually been DOWN, no message would go out... with an InReach linked to my phone. That would be a bummer. Any way to link these two?

  • Not possible. If I read the inReach specs right it only provides messages, navigation and SOS capabilities - the way the Incident Alert works would require Internet access (and a Bluetooth connection to the watch). It would theoretically be possible to at least send out a SOS or text message with the location through inReach, but that would have to be specially implemented by Garmin.

  • In reach does have BT, here is what it says on the specs

    • Wireless compatible: yes (Bluetooth®)

There is also a widget for InReach available from Garmin to use with the Watch, or at least I have one on my Marq.

Also as per this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgXVo_LaydE  you can use your watch to send alarms using InReach. So yes I think your watch is capable of what you are asking for.
