So, my 4:50am alarm today . . .

went off at 5:39am . . while I was running. Confused

  • This is lame. An alarm has to be 100% reliable.

Reminds me of times (was it Fenix 3?), when we had this mess with the alarm sync that killed alarms without notice.

  • Had this kind of issue already with my 935. So probably it isn't a bug. But a feature. Thinking

  • The 6:30am alarm went off just fine.  Good thing I had my table alarm clock set though or I would have missed my 5:30 run.  I thought it was odd that it didn't go off when I woke up but was pretty surprised when it did go off while I was running.

It wasn't the first time my alarm has malfunctioned on this watch.  And just for the record, the time on my watch was fine and the alarm was still in the watch, and was "on".  This same thing would happen occasionally on my 935 also but with that it would actually disappear from the watch.  This was different.  I always have to have a backup, but I shouldn't need that.

  • I think this could be related to the hourly alert bug...

Which is supposedly fixed in the new beta: www8.garmin.com/.../download_details.jsp

    • Addressed rare issue of hourly alert drifting off of hour

  • My hourly alert has been perfect since installing this beta, and I have been making a point of checking whenever I feel the vibration alert.  Every one I've seen has been accurate, and I would definitely have seen a misfired one by now.  I was seeing them almost daily.  So I'm not entirely sure they are related.

  • So maybe they fixed it only from hourly alert, not from alarms ;)

But the issue sounds pretty similar in it's basic form. Something that should happen on specific time isn't happening when it should.

  • Yes, I agree, I see what you're saying now.

  • Linda, I wonder if this is related to your hourly alert issues? Is that still happening? Must say my alarms are solid...

  • it's possible I guess.  I am running the new beta since it came out and I have not seen the hourly alert malfunction since so that seems to be fixed, I hope.  It was happening often enough that I'm sure I would have seen it and I haven't.  So it would seem that these things are related because they are based on a time alert but the hourly is fixed and I'm still getting the alarm thing.  Not as often as the hourly alert malfunction though.  The alarm has only misfired a couple times.

Just curious, because I recall you having this issue at times with your 935.  Are you using the same phone?  I've never had issues with alarms with my 935 or 945.  I know the watch will sync time with the phone when connected through Bluetooth.  If it's the same phone, it's possible there might be something there.  I'm not sure, just throwing something out there to look at.
