Navigation by Maps like from phone

I don't really get it, how do you use the maps? I mean, what are your ways of using it? I've downloaded the OSM version, and I see it for myself, for example - I'm in a place I don't know, I need to get to the mall, in a kilometer. How can the watch help me with that? It is impossible to search for anything on this map. You have to get your phone out and open Google Maps navigation and go by phone. But I want to go by the watch. Is it real?

  • The most useful way of using the maps, in my opinion, is if you plan a route you want to run/ride/hike (e.g. via strava routes), then when you are on the run, the map helps you make decisions about which path is the right one when you are unsure - e.g. you can see the correct path is left or right side of a river, or if your fork is before or after some hut etc.

What you seem to want to do is navigation, which is not the strong point of it. It is possible, though really painful, to navigate to some position on the map (using zoom+pan), then to request it to navigate to this point on the map. It also has a known locations database (POI), if your mall is in that list you are in luck, and can directly tell it to plan a route to it, without having to go through the zoom/pan slowness.
