No topographical maps included for Switzerland? Strange colours for loaded maps.

When I bought this watch I expected Topographical maps to be included, but I updated on Garmin Express I only got TopoActive Europe 2019.10. Despite the name this doesn't include proper topographical maps for Switzerland i.e. no contour lines, no hiking trails and poor resolution - useless for hiking and running. This seems like false advertising...

So I loaded my old Swiss Topo v2 maps from my Oregon, but the colors are displayed totally wrong compared the the Oregon - most of the colors are grey or orange.

I have had THREE Garmin FR 945, one from Wiggle and two from Hervis (Vienna). None of them had elevation lines and I have tried everything in the setting to enable then. I had the same issue with the Fenix 5x plus. I shall get another (4th one) - again from Hervis (Vienna) - in the next week(s) and I'll give it another try.

This sounds like some kind of user error. Can definetly confirm elevation lines.

After some more research, it seems the TopoActive indeed do **NOT** have elevation lines (contour lines), I was sure they did have it on my watch, but as I stated in a different post, I have long switched to a better map so I had no way to test, and my recollection must be wrong.

Even on the garmin shop website link I linked above it says "¹Does not display elevation contour lines or have the ability to "navigate to an address (optional mapping required)" in the footnote.

But it does have trails and paths, I am sure of that one :)

And it appears this is only the case for the US maps. Bummer.

As far as I know, the TopoActiveEurope maps have no elevation data included. They took the elevation data from a additional preinstalled DEM.Europe map.

Who wants to have displayed contour lines on the map page, should download a contour line map from a free osm source and enable both.

There is, however, free contour line layers (and track layers) that you can download and overlay TopoActive, even though there are better alternatives
