Quickfit/Quick release - what do people use?

Hi all,

I just received my 945 tri bundle.  I'm intending to use it for "every day" wear to get all day HR/sleep tracking etc.  Also I of course wanted to use it for tris and training.

I noticed that the quick release kit is incredibly bulky though.  Like I don't think I would ever wear this thing all day long in that sled.

From searching a bit I've found that the Fenix quick release 22's seem to be compatible with the 945, which seems more plausible for every day use.

I was thinking of:

  • Purchasing a quick fit band
  • Using quick fit band for "every day" use
  • Keeping it in quickfit band for pool swim and training open water swim use
  • Popping off the quick fit band and dropping it into the quick release bike sled for bike rides
  • Using the bulky quick release arm sled for races w/ open water swim
    • My thought here was to have it more secure if I got kicked in open water

So I was wondering - what's everyone else doing with these?  That seem like a reasonable plan?

Ok, I didn't quite understand how the Quick fit bands allowed the user not to need the cradle in 'watch mode'. The straps have a snap system to the watch 'axles'. That is why some answered they use this system for training and day to day but for races they use the quicker cradle system for the run/watch mode?

  • I don't do races any more but using the watch cradle system doesn't sound very appealing.  I'd rather snap the straps on and off than be wearing a cradle on my wrist with no watch.  It literally takes 5 seconds fasten/unfasten the quick fit watch straps.  The only issue would be if you thought you might lose them.
