Totally not Satisfy

Thanks guys, the buttons are a fundamental part so may avoid for now, was really wanting to get this watch.

Do they do no testing?!

No, testing is crowdsourced to the customers.

Really?! Very much like Suunto, I have a Baro 9 and it’s so basic in terms of software and not wearable as a daily watch. They all seem to rush products to market.

Sorry, but I got myself a 9 Baro as failover and can't say any bad word about it.

It is rugged, functional and - most important - reliable!

Did 20 hours effort with it the last four weeks and never had a single sensor connection dropout, no irritations about buttons or connection losses with my smartphone nor anything else. Sure, functionality compared to the 945 is on the basic side, but there it delivers rock solid.

btw the reason for getting a Suunto is that my 945 showed cracks in the OHR resin after 3 weeks of unabusive regular usage and the replacement process covered by german law is unresponded by the retailer for 4 weeks now. They blame Garmin to slow down the process.

In my opinion, even if I get a new 945 I am quite uncertain weather it will become my "trusted primary device" anytime again. In the last year I experienced dropouts, restarts and random hickups with the 645M. Sure, there are some points where I will get the 945 out for recording with CIQs, but those sessions are rare.

The experience with my Garmin devices went so far that I decided against getting an inReach for the risky sports. I am into kitesurfing and stuff and I would surely love the extra safety for the sessions out alone. But with those experiences I will definitely look into other vendors to be my lifesaver.

Do you wear it as an everyday watch? I find it’s just too bulky, build quality does seem good but they just are so slow to add basic functionality.

I had the Spartan before it and that was similar, great quality poor software to me at least.

Anyway appreciate your response, the Garmin worries me, sounds a bit brittle from reports from you and others.

Everyday watch depends on definition. Not 24/7/365, but 6 days a week for sure.

It's a little on the chunky side, but still okay on my arm. And the bezel coating is made to last! Had several scratches by the lightest touches on the stainless bezel of the 645, but already hit the doorframe really hard with the Suunto and there is not the slightest clue of an impact.

I don't necessarily use it as an activity tracker. But I really do appreciate the smart notifications when at work. I tend to be last minute for meeting without those. ;)

But what means basic functionality to you?

• Online sync: check
• Native running power: CHECK

What I do miss a little are workout calendars and structured workouts - as I tend to like statistics and planning but don't want to keep all that in my head. But since I switched my training plan from very detailed - <sarc> WU: 673sec, Int: 336sec 4:42/km, 57sec 5:48/km, CD: 423sec </sarc> - to "Run to the lake, do one round quite fast, a half one relaxed, repeat 5-7 times and head home", I'm quite comfortable with those features missing.

As already mentioned: just reliable tracking

Update:

I drained the battery, hard reset it and charge it back to 100 and now I am getting the correct readings. 

The issue now are the buttons! The buttons are no longer clicking and they seem to get stuck.  

I was going to call Garmin and RMA but after seeing Garmin response on another post I decided to just return it. 

There was a long threat of people complaining about it and Garmin closed the threat! I guess they were not happy to see how many people are conplaining.  That to me already show how much Garmin “cares” about us,  closing a post because people are complaning lmao good move garmin! You just lost another customer. 

This watch is going back today to my local store. 

We closed the other thread because this is not an issue that we can resolve via the forums. This was not intended to make users think we do not care about this issue because we certainly do. 

We would never ask for the necessary RMA information through a public channel and we cannot bring a device in for evaluation using the forums. 

This issue is still being actively investigated as we want to find a permanent solution for all of our users going forward. 

I think this is reasonable.

However, what is the current position with shipping of new units ? I have just placed an order with Clever Training UK. Is this issue known to only effect a proportion of units, or all units ? Only units made before a certain date, or all units in existence ? Am I likely to get a watch that needs sending back to you almost immediately ??
