The Forerunner 945 has been added to the compatibility list for Garmin Explore.
If you haven't used this app or don't know what it does, it's a tool for managing navigation features like saved waypoints, routes etc.
This seems part of a broader strategy by Garmin to hive off certain functions from the "Connect Mobile" app. My take:
- Connect app: fitness and health data, activity tracking, workout & training management, and social (connections & challenges)
- Explore app: navigation management
- Connect IQ app: activity, widget, watchface and app management (not yet implemented but likely "data-field management" at some point)
Simple devices like a Vivofit won't have any use for the Explore or Connect IQ apps so moving their functions out of Connect simplifies user experience. Similarly, users of devices that don't feature navigation won't need nav functions.
I'd expect the Connect app to delete functions covered by the other two apps as time goes on.
