Odd calorie count when swimming

When I swim with the 945 without a HRM the device claims I have used only 100 Calories, when in fact it should be much more. My previous device - the 935 - gave me better readings. Is this a known problem? Have others seen it?

    735XT here, swimming without a chest band, get very low calories, can’t be right (Like 28 cals burnt on a mile swim for example). Maybe a bug?

    No bug. Just very hard to determine calorie count without any usable physiological metrics. Optical HR is of no use at all when swimming. Without that, numbers are a best guess based on age, duration of activity, type of activity, sex.
