New 945 stuck on v2.40 software, will not update to v2.50

Just got a new Forerunner 945 -- ordered from Amazon. The watch software has updated itself from 2.20 that cane installed to v2.40.

But I see that v2.50 software has been out for over a month.

Instructions say to run Garmin Express and the watch software will be updated. Well I've sync'ed the 945 with Garmin Express several times a day for the past 3 days and it will not update past v2.40 on-watch software. I've checked under System > Software Update > and "Auto Update" is set to "on".

Why won't the watch update to the latest software version? Is there any way to force the update?

APAC or ROW

on your device in the GARMIN folder is a file called garmindevice.xml

open this file with a text exditor or an xml capable browser and search for

<PartNumber>006-B3113-00</PartNumber>

when you find this text you have a ROW device

when not you have a APAC device and their firmware versions are behind but stable ones

update recap:

ROW <PartNumber>006-B3113-00</PartNumber>

APAC <PartNumber>006-B3441-00</PartNumber>

There are a quite a few lines with <partnumber>xxx</partnumber> somewhere in them... but the first one is as follows..

PartNumber>006-B3441-00</PartNumber>

Does that mean ROW or APAC?

Darn it! Should have know better than to order off Amazon.

I'll return it and order off Garmin's online store.
