Music controls: Volume buttons not working on watch with Bluetooth headset

Forerunner 945: I have paired it with my Bluetooth earphones ok but the volume controls do not work on the watch. The volume seems set by default at 100% and is deafening! (there are no volume controls on my actual ear phones so the setup is not usable). My ear phones are BT v5.0 ( myinnov-x10 ) and work perfectly with my Iphone and other devices. I welcome any advice. Note the other music controls (like play/pause/previous) all work ok - it's just the volume on the watch that is the issue. When I press the buttons I can see the press being registered on the watch (+, - signs highlight at each press) but the headphones do not get the signal.

    Hi all,

    1. I am about to buy some reflect flow air buds. I understand that you cannot change the volume from the watch, but can you change it from the phone app before the workout? with bluetooth 5, I understand that it should be possible to have both watch and phone connected at once?

Will I still be able to adjust the volume from my phone prior to taking a run? Or is the volume always at a given level when connected to the watch?

It is fixed now with the new update

  • It depends on what you call "music controls". I received a message from Garmin Support:

You indicate that you cannot use the volume function. Unfortunately, the watches are only programmed for buttons. Because it is a function of pressing the button and going up or low, the device does not know what to do with it. Because we do not produce headphones ourselves, we cannot support this function.

I doubt if they will solve it. Seems not. So if you are considering buying the 945 ánd want to use Samsung Galaxy Buds including volume changes on de buds, and this is very important for you, don't buy the Garmin FR945.

  • Since the last update my Fenix 6 pro works fine with Jaybird Vista.

I have found a workaround that works for me: I connect the ear buds to my Phone, reduce the volume, disconnect the Phone, connect to my FR945 and then all is fine. Initially the volume was indeed set to max after initial pairing...
