Music controls: Volume buttons not working on watch with Bluetooth headset

Forerunner 945: I have paired it with my Bluetooth earphones ok but the volume controls do not work on the watch. The volume seems set by default at 100% and is deafening! (there are no volume controls on my actual ear phones so the setup is not usable). My ear phones are BT v5.0 ( myinnov-x10 ) and work perfectly with my Iphone and other devices. I welcome any advice. Note the other music controls (like play/pause/previous) all work ok - it's just the volume on the watch that is the issue. When I press the buttons I can see the press being registered on the watch (+, - signs highlight at each press) but the headphones do not get the signal.

  • I gave up with those (Myinnov-c10) head phones and bought some Anker SoundCore Neo ear buds - these work perfectly - even running inside and out, rock solid connection (no sound drops), I'm the wearing the watch on left hand (I'm 5 11'), they work with and without heart rate chest monitor (also using BT), they work in the heat (sweaty environments), 10mile trail running is not an issue. I highly recommend these (great if they fit your ears).

    Still not working in V2.70

  • I have the same problem with the JBL Reflect Flow, the volume is at its maximum level and I cannot turn it down using the volume control on the watch. Previously I used the Skullcandy Method Wireless, which has volume buttons on the headset itself, and I was able to adjust the music volume.

For me it seems that you are unable to adjust the music volume when a headset does not have its own volume controls..

Is this a known issue? And if so, is it supposed to be solved in an upcoming (software) update? (Former Member?)

Still no improvement in V2.80 for me. Neither Up/Down working with JBL Reflect Flow.

  • Problem also with Galaxy Buds. Looks like a common bug. Hope Garmin can fix this.

  •  I can control the volume when my Galaxy Buds are connected.  I can't control the volume on the Buds themselves, but from the watch the volume control works fine.

  • JBL reflect mini 2. The up volume button works on the earphones but not the down one.

Controlling from the watch does work ok though.

  • Thank you. You're right about the buttons on the watch. But I hate it when I'm running and go through the menus while running. Hope to use the Buds functionality.
