No BREATH FREQUENCY below 10 breaths per minute!

I’m using since more than a year the app “Elite HRV” with a Polar H10 strap (Bluetooth) for getting my “morning readiness” and to perform “Guided Breathing” with HRV biofeedback.

For “Guided Breathing” I usually work with a Breathing Rate of 5 breaths per minute (5x Inhale and 5x Exhale per minute).

My problem is that even during sessions with more than 5 min I always get from Garmin 945 (with Polar H10 strap in ANT+ mode) 9-11 breaths per minute.

I also tried with Breathing rates for the “Guided Breathing” from 4 – 20 breaths per minute.

In the “Elite HRV” App I can see graphically, that by breath frequency is a very well sinus on top of the R-R / HRV data. That means extremely clean data to extract the breath frequency out of the R-R / HRV data.

What I see is that my Garmin 945 is only getting the correct breath frequency if it is higher than 10 breaths per minute.

My Garmin 945 is not able to defect correctly breathing rates below 9 breaths per minute.

Is there any reason for that?

In meditation practice it is normal to have a very low breath frequency.
