No connection to phone

I have an issue with my Forerunner 945 and iPhone XS Max (latest iOS).

In the mornings after my phone has been charging beside the bed, the Connect app while in the morning show that the watch is "not connected", whilst in fact it is connected through Bluetooth. The bluetooth menu in the phone shows that the watch is connected, and I receive notifications on the watch - it is just the app that believes that the watch is disconnected. It does not allow me to sync etc.

The phone has always been in bluetooth distance of the phone.

I fix it by restarting watch, or killing Connect app on the phone and start it once more.

I am on 2.50.

Anyone else with the same bug?

  • I also often have issues with Live track no working through an entire run but it is usually when I'm in an area with spotty cell coverage.  It used to have more issues but lately, as long as I have good cell coverage with my iPhone 7, it is pretty flawless.  What phone are you using?

  • same for me. Not necessarily always in the mornings but seemingly random and often.

But my old 935 has solid connection all the time. 945 has much shorter Bluetooth range and unreliable connection too.

  • Same thing. This is why I left my vivoactive 3 behind. Funny is that 645 never disconnected. 945 worked also fine, but started misbehaving last week and its super annoying.

  • This was unfortunately not the case after all. It still disconnects - even with background data enabled.

  • Yeah count me in! My phone says that 945 is connected i get notifications and everything but GCM says that my watch is disconnected and i have to kill the app to get syncing to work. My first 945 worked perfectly and i got auto syncing 3 times per day in the morning in the middle and on the evening.

  • My 945 randomly connects and disconnects (using Android on Samsung Galaxy Note 8). Whenever it is connected, it loses connection after a few seconds/minutes (the green icon changes to the gray in Garmin Connect).

Tried repairing, resetting, turning of battery optimization, upgrading FW, downgrading FW, factory reset. NOTHING works!

Very frustrating, since all smartphone functionality doesn't work.

It has no problem staying connected to BT headphones. Used to have a 735XT which never had this problem.

  • I have exactly the same issue with mine. Before fr945 i had a 920xt and the connection between my watch and my mobile was always exellent.

I' m also having issues with the connectivity between fr945 and hr monitors. Continuously connects and disconnects.

  • It is definitely watch related and not phone related. I did a run yesterday with 2 sensors (HR strap and footpod) both disconnects and reconnects at regular intervals synchronous. There seems to be some kind of bug with the 945 connection (to phone, sensors etc.)

  • Just to follow up. Garmin have really great support and sent me a replacement unit. This fixed all problems and connections now work flawlessly
