Forerunner 945 connection problems

Got Forerunner 945 yesterday. connection has serious issue, both connect to ant+ sensor as well as connect to Garmin connect mobile have problems.

It could connect, but then disconnect, it seems follow a pattern like 5-6 minutes off, 4-5 minutes on. I went out for a 1 hour and a half run which clearly show this pattern. the watch version was updated to 2.50 during watch setup. It is very annoying.

From the workout chart you could clearly see it connect to HRM-TRI and then disconnected. Another problem is, the Forerunner 945 wrist heartrate consistently very low compare to HRM-TRI which endup heart rate spike when HRM-TRI got connected. My previous 935 was better than this.

  • i hav same problems. 2.40ver.(korean)

correct a bit, it should be around 2 minutes on and 4 minutes off, repeated near 14 times in 1:23.

And another observation, I am not 100% sure, but it seems that the connection will keep if you keep a connection to a bluetooth headphone and listern music.

but apparently only music could keep the connection active, if it is bluetooth connection to phone then it will still drop.

  • I have this exact problem too... Seems to work ok if I go running and don't have my phone with me, but when cycling and carrying my phone the HRM will disconnect at these really regular intervals. Also noticed that HRM and phone both disconnect and reconnect at the same time.

  • Hey Roland, I've looked into this further and I think you are right! Listening to music with bluetooth headphones seems to keep everything else connected as well, while no headphones results in the regular dropouts. How to fix it is still a mystery though...

+1 exactly same the same thing is happening for me.

I have graphs looking exactly like this where the watch lose connection to both the HRM-run and a footpod (Stryd) at the same time.

I'm gonna send in my watch to garmin tech for diagnostics.

I bought a Wireless Optoma BE Sport4 headphones and I experience a very unstable Wireless connection as soon as I start running. PLEASE FIX AND UPDATE SOFTWARE. I think the Wireless signal needs more power!!!

  • I have same issue. Any solutions?

I sent in my watch for service to resolve the issue, but they sent me a replacement instead. Everything has worked fine afterwards.

my hrm tri always disconnects at indoor bicycle mode on edge 530, but the sensor hrm tri was sold wirh my 945 bundle. battery was changed and after first ride in 32 minutes i lost heart rate reading and cannot find sensor with any garmin device. i run almost every day with this sensor and there were no problems wit it
