HR extremly high during some activities

HR Messurement of optical HR sensor is relatively precise when no activity is running.

I compared several times with other euipment or by hand using a watch !

When running "Krafttraining" (weight training) or "Cadio" the messured HR rates are 30%-100% TOO HIGH !!.

This mostly holds on a minute or longer then suddenly the rate decreases to rates which are comparabele to reference measurements

Other acitivities like "Walking",  "Running", "Coisstraining" deliver good values instaedt.

So I conclude since, depending on operating condition I  get good values or completely wrong ones, this must be a software issue

Is this a known bug ?

If not, this  should be fixed as soon as possible.

If I would have such H-Rates during my gym I would get an hard attack, sooner or later
With other devices I measured never values above 120 BPM !

I watch for 600€ should be able to do it's basic job, measure a sufficiently exact HR like other chineese watches do for 30€ !

I'm so badly disappointed about is that I'm thinking about sending the forerunner 945 back to the shop

By the way I opened a task at garmin support a week ago an got no response till now. This is not what I would call a good support

  • If during weight training you are never above 120 - you are not pumping hard enough. Slight smile

I think maybe your Chinse sensors have not worked very well.

And since you do not disclose your age - the rule of thumb of 220 - (minus) your age = max heart rate. So if you are 50 - your max heart rate would be roughly 170. So no dangers until then normally (with your doctors permission of course)

I'm 48 - and my peak HR is 183-185'ish - and that is what I try to reach during HIIT training and I have not died yet (I think)

The optical heart rate sensor is not great for all sports type. Especially if you move your hands a lot while doing it. Then you need a chest strap or on-arm optical sensor. But even an on arm sensor would have issues when you train biceps or triceps.

Currently I do a light weight training because of problems with my shoulders, and I definitely come NOT to over 120.

For comparison I measured my pulse with vivosmartHR, Huwai, and by hand with a another watch and counting by Hand.
Sure no measurement is exact, but the results of F945 are definitely too high !

Further I continued watching the measurement in my breaks while sitting down and the high rate remains.
I then took the watch from my arm until the display stopped showing the rate and put it on again.
The high rate continues sometimes several minutes, then suddenly went down down to normal

Further this happens ONLY when running special activitys (see original post) . So I stopped the activity and continued my workout, (configured the F945 to measure continouesly).  The HR went down to expected values

I would not complain about an error of a few percent, but it was often nearly the double rate, and that's not acceptable

By the way I'm 59 in a few month
