Sync with iTunes - counts do not match?

Received my 945 yesterday and set up sync with iTunes. Created two playlists in iTunes, one for music (205 titles), one for podcasts (4 titles).

First observation: Express says it syncs 211 titles. Huh? Thought it was 209. Ok, the 2 additional could be the playlists.

Second observation: Watch says 198 music titles and 3 podcasts in the playlists. Fourth podcast can be found in the podcast section though. Not checked, which music titles are missing.

Anyone experiencing this strange behaviour too?

Second question: when I delete/add titles in iTunes and do a sync with the watch, are the deltas transferred, so are the titles deleted and added on the watch in the next sync with Express?

  • I can't answer with regard to the counts as I've not observed this, but as far as updating the playlist on the watch if you modify it on your computer before syncing, yes, it will change the playlist on the watch.

  • Thanks. Just played around and additions are appearing on the watch. Deletions are not propagated. Well, have to do it manually then.

  • That's odd, deletions work for me.

I'm running iTunes under Win 10. I've created a playlist called _945. I always sync the whole playlist and my actions on iTunes (add, delete etc) are reflected on the watch when I sync. I connect with the USB cable for this and use Garmin Express for syncing.

I haven't tried anything with individual songs, always the whole playlist.

  • Hmm, might be a problem with the MacOS versions of Express per iTunes. Nevermind, deletions are not my standard usecase. Could as well delete on the watch then.

  • It is a nornal. Garmin did not accept such insignificant issue report, unfortunately. +/- one song, who cares, yeah? Answer was following: these additional files are playlists. I suspect every sync you will get +1, as playlist is a necessary feature, and gets updated on new files list.

  • Hmm. And why 205 titles in iTunes and only 198 on the watch? Checked it, there are only MP3 files in the playlist.
